new owner of 1987 sl

I picked up my new 560sl up on friday, drove home and went out to eat. Sunday took hard top off and drove to Bartlesville Okla which is about 45 miles from Tulsa. It was a dream come true, I thought the car would be nice but it was better than that. Drove like a dream. It is midnight blue with med. gray interior.
We parked it in front of the Price Tower which is the only skyscraper ever built by Frank Lloyd Wright. What a setting. We previous owned a 300 E and were able to raise the hood all the way up, does anyone know if the 560 hood does this.

thanks for the welcome

Thanks so much for your commernt.

Tell me more about your car, color and etc, we are trying to get some pictures taken so we can post them. Our car is midnight blue, with blue soft top and grey interior. It has 90,000 original miles and is basically was a one owner car, the last owner only had it less than a year and only put about 700 miles on it. As far as we can tell except for the soft top it is all original and is in exceptional great shape and drives top notch.

Welcome to the club!
You'll soon find the most significant difference between Mercedes (especially the SL, IMHO) and other cars. Other cars are owned by you; with the MB, it's obviously vice versa.

thanks craig

Loved your car list, the E was a daily driver and was recently traded in, it was replaced by a 04 Chrysler Pacifica. The sl was bought as a fun car. So far with only one trip, it has become a love affair. Taking it to Arkansas in about two weeks to explore the fall colors of the Ozark mts.
Other cars
01 Jeep Grand Chreokee
70 Chrysler 300
a few of the Cars that are gone but missed
57 DeSoto Fireflite
60 DeSoto Fireflite
70 Dodge Chanllenger
are we a Chryler family are what. I did own a 66 Mustang when I was in my early twenties. Oh the cars that have come and gone.

in answer to your request

My 1987 560SL is black with black interior...presently has over 136k miles. She was not in as good a mechanical shape as yours and so she's been in the shop a few times for differing things...major thing was the timing chain replacement at 118,000 miles which brought to light other issues on the top end of the engine. Lots of $$$ later, she runs perfect now...

Dom, I love black cars. My goal is to win the lottery and buy a black/black SL600. In the real world, we have an '88 560SL in Burgundy with the Palomino interior (wife's car). That said, Olga was just beautiful. So sorry for your loss.

Bobk,

thanks for the note....Olga really was in great cosmetic shape, mechanically not as great.

one thing about black cars though, 30 secs after you dust it, it's covered again....so the trick is, dust and then drive real fast! : )
