Chassis Number/Brake Rotors

I am going to have the brake rotors on my 1980 450 SL replaced. I went to my father's auto parts store to look up the rotors, only to find that there were two used on the 1980 models. It identifies the different rotors by the chassis number on the vehicle. Any idea where this is located?

Thank you,

I just wrote a rather long winded post about this a few minutes ago. What you need to know is the last 6 digits of the vehicle ID number, that's the number they are referring to. Possibly it's on an aluminum plate on the drivers side windshield post on the interior side of the windshield, otherwise just look at the vehicle registration issued by your state, should be on that info, or on the title.
