Vent Dial Bulb Replacement-300E, '92
My far right vent dial bulb is out. Does someone know the procedure for removing the vent dial itself and doing this replacement? My car is a 1992 300E.

I didn't know MB made a 300E SL, just kidding. Believe it or not, there are only 2 bulbs for the climate control panel. First remove the 2 strim screws below the panel. These are just above the radio. Lift the wood trim off. You should see 2 foil squares that are about 1/4 inch square. The one you want to mess with is the one on the left. Now to remove the bulb you will need a small diameter hose. You push the hose onto the bulb and gently pull it out. Replacement is in the reverse, though don't push the hose onto the new bulb too hard. You want it to let go when you pull the hose out. BTW this is not the best designed/user freindly bulb arrangment. I have a 124 TD, so I am assuming the climate control panel is the same.

Vent Dial Bulb
Dear Rick:
Not sure if you were responding to my query... I'm trying to replace the bulb that illuminates the vent dial on the far right of the dach (near the door). You know the knob you turn to operate the vent opening... that's where the problem is. Do you know how to remove the knob itself? Thanks for your reply. |

Now I understand. You know, I have had my '87 TD since May and those lights never worked. Actually I didn't realize until now that they are supposed to. So, I guess we are in the same boat.
