There are a number of classic car insurance carriers and a web search should reveal those writing in your area: Common writers are Hagerty and Chubbs - My carrier (Geico) writes these policies but calls them "pleasure coverage" - gives me the extra $$'s of coverage so I don't have the hassle of an argument about "book value" of the car when (if) someone crashes me out.
Caution - don't get this insurance and use the car for a daily driver

I live in the same area as you (almost) Staten Island NY. I too put on about the same miles on my '86 560sl. I was paying almost $2100 from AIG which I thought was way too high. I was able to cut that number in half by switching to Allstate with the same coverage. I recently tried to do some insurance shopping from some other co's they still were the cheapest. Hope this helps.

Interesting -- my policy with Allstate became ridiculously expensive insuring 4 cars, so I shopped around and found AIG to be the best deal. I guess it all depends on your driving record (mine's getting better ) and geographical location. Of course since 9/11, insurance costs have skyrocketed.

If indeed you drive it that little (under 2000 miles a year), drive it only for pleasure, keep it garaged whenever not in use, and have another car as a daily driver, you'll qualify for classic car coverage at probably a few hundred a year for agreed value. Buyclassiccars.com has links to several sources.

With some classic car ins. co's, a clean driving record is a must as well.
