ASR prob continues

MY post back in march...ended up with local dealer giving up on my car!

They tried replacing the main control unit..no fix, replaced both actuators...still no fix... neutral safety switch and accelerator cable replaced and still the problem was not solved.

As per my last thread the [dealer] said they spoke to "Germany" and they thought it was the wiring harness to the system. I WAITED 6 wks to have it made, when they put it in the ASR problem was STILL not solved!

Now the dealer says they think the harness was the original problem and blew something on the original computer control unit AND the new one.
Finally they felt they didn't want to put another in unless i was willing to pay for that regardless if it solved the problemm!{$3k}

CAn ANYBODY help me??!

None of your posts explain when this problem occurs. You must give us more info. Perhaps your light is on permanently - is this the case?

My car recently lit the ASR light permanently immediately after start (after I had changed the transmission fluid) and I could not understand why. It did this for one day then returned to normal!?!

I suspect the ASR system in these cars is 'THE' number one cause of frustration - I don't know of other 'fly by wire' cars that have so many problems, but perhaps that's because I only own one other...

Give us some more info and maybe we can help...

Hi there,

If it's any conscellation, I have the same problem on my 600SL. It will not go away I have tried everything. A stupid system I don't want it anyway, mercedes should ashamed of themselves as there are so many problems with ASR.

I have been told that you can switch it off. A company called RENNtech do a ASR DEFEAT SWITCH simple to fit. I am waiting to hear back from them myself.
