I'll post this Tip if someone will give me some direction!

This Spring I went to put the convertible top up on my 560SL. Whoops! the Cover wouldn't pop up and I couldn't figure how to get the Rag top up. It was sealed inside the well.

What to do?

Well belive it or not after an hour of frustration, I went to my Mercedes CD Repair Manual. you know the one that is tough to read cause it was simply copied from the manual!

Lo and Behold, an explanation.

You take a coat hangar and put a hook on the end and make the whole piece about 2 feet long. Slide the coat hangar so the hook is flat as it passes the LEFT SIDE OF THE TRUNK HINGE AND GOES INTO THE WELL. When you have the hook in the well turn it from flat to "Hook down" Pull Back on the wire and the hook catches the cable and Pops the Cover!

No Kidding! this actually worked the first time. I adjusted the cable but left the wire attached to the cable and ran it thru the back and tucked it neatly behind the carpet. Next time I have a solution without hassle!

Now! Who can help me to stop the water coming from under the dash when the AC is running alot on a humid day. I have been told to blow out the plastic drain lines! Where are they and if I have to replace what is the part number or an acceptable substitute?

Thanks!

The drains are under the car on either side of the transmission hump. Blow them out each time the car is on a lift for service.

Water

It is not continuous. More on the passenger side than the driver side. I get drops on the Drivers side I get a splash on the passenger side. When I make a turn it really pours out the passenger side.

Water!

One other thing! When I stop and park. Like in the garage or on a parking lot I get a lot of water underneath the car!

Nothing to worry about: just condensation from the a/c draining away.

jj, the problem on a 107 is that either the drain lines clog or the plastic piece that catches the water cracks. There's a definite annoyance value to getting a predictably wet right foot if you run the AC on a humid day. Anybody with a definitive fix, or is it an ongoing issue of drain line clearance?

A/C pisses on the floor

Usually the problem is the hoses on from each side of the evaporator case to the tranny tunnel rots (it is a soft foam rubber to reduce noise transmission into the car) replace it with appropriately sized heater hose and be happy.
