Parting out W111 coupe/280 motor
Hello all,
Well, it's happening. We pulled my dad's old '69 280SEC out the other day and gave her a total physical. She's terminal . There was just too much sub-frame rust to consider a resto . Lots of memories in that car for both of us, we both had a good cry over it and decided to part her out . Some of the stuff will go up on eBay, as I have parted a few older MB's out there, but I am offering up some of it here first to those who need it. NO DEALERS, enthustiasts only . Sheet Metal: Doors and hood/trunk lid are great. Fenders gone. Has factory MB locking gas cap. Grille is nice. Most trim is nice. Bumper are good. Glass: All is perfect. Not a scratch or chip on most. Interior: Blue Leather, Auto on the tree. Wood is great (it will need a closer look, but first inspection says most of it is ready for instal, no refinishing). All leather trim/ door panels are in great shape. Back seat is great. Front seats are gone. Only good for springs/frames. Dash looks perfect. Radio is there and works. Engine: Was fully rebuilt in '91 (new pistons/bearings/crank/rings/valves/seals etc.) and was run about 25,000mi until it blew the Injection Pump in '93 and it was parked. All periferials were in good working order when parked. Tranny was good when it was parked, but has closer to 120k mi on it. Ih has the limited slip rear end (not sure at this sec what the ratio is) and had a new actuator in '91 or '92. Basically, it's all there and pretty decent w/ the exceptions of the frame/fenders/front seats/injection pump. I do have a pair of carbs w/ low milage that we were going to put on her but decided against it as well. Basically ask for anything anyhow (post/PM/email). I can take pics of anything. If I get multiple requests for the same part I will prob post on eBay and let y'all duke it out there. Sob stories and pics of what you are trying to restore are welcome ! I love these cars. -Matt-
