Smile Misc. Parts that I've put on eBay...

Hi folks!

I've put a few items on eBay, and thought I ought to let y'all know about them. This link should get you to an item, and from there you can click on my other items. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=7937732742

I'm currently eyeballing the fuel distributor (and the airflow sensor assembly) (k-jetronic) from a low mileage 280CE (around 90k miles). Anybody think it's worth pulling?

Thanks!

-Larry

There's lots of stuff left. It was hit on the drivers side. Cloth interior, which points to Euro model. The wood is shot though. Engine is pretty much complete. Front windows are power, rears manual. There is no key, so I don't know whats in the trunk. I would have to force it open, to see whats in there. The first aid kit is still original..lol. (cover is busted at the hinges though)

I am intrigued with the thought of manual windows for the rear of a coupe. Think you could pull enough stuff out to transplant it into a coupe with power windows? What about visors? What color interior? Outside mirrors? Door panels? Windshield? The weatherstrips in the door frames that go over the windows are worth pulling if they are good.

You may be able to unlock the trunk with a Mityvac, in theory, never tried it.

Hmmm.. I don't remember what the visors looked like. The interior color was dark blue. The windshield is good (is it different than from a 4 door?). I'll have to look for the weather stripping above the door. I think the door panels were ok... will double check those too. The drivers mirror I think, had a small dent...not 100% sure...I did see the rubber peek out from its groove.
As far as the rear manual windows goes... I would suppose their removal is do-able. Question is, for whom?

Gosh, how I wished I lived out in the sticks and could have some of these cars towed to my place so I could rummage through them... Then again, it might get boring after the first dozen... Hmmm...

I'm interested in some side window rubbers, if in good condition.

And if it got Euro bumbers, let me know.

There is a difference between the US and Euro air plenums on the M110 CIS motor. I picked up a 280CE that had been t-boned two years back. Drove a long way out to get it. Turns out that somebody swapped the motor, so the engine wasn't euro-spec anymore. They kept the euro plenum.

If it is a euro spec car with a euro spec motor. Then its top end is worth saving. The cams, distributor, FI system. It's a messy, but fun job. Wierd tools are needed to pull the chain off. If the motor is slated for death, then the simplest chain removal tool is a die grinder or saws-all.

I can think of three definative ways to ident the motor...
- Getting the cam codes and looking them up. You'll need a mirror and some dexterity for that, since they're stamped on the back of the cam. The basic cam part number cast into the side might be sufficient if you have the EPC handy, since I think they are different blanks.
- Pulling the head and looking at the piston crowns. Euro ones have a cool wave.
- Looking up the chassis & engine numbers in the US & euro versions of the EPC software. One will have it, one won't.

Oh, and if you do pull the head and there is no significant wear at the top of the cylinder (which is highly unlikely), you can recycle the block without spending 3,000$ having it bored and refitted with pistons. I went through 4 motors looking for a salvagable one. Nada.

If you make prices on any of the parts we have mentioned I may be interested. Blue is right color for the interior.

The windshield would have to be near perfect, no cracks or sandblasting. The windshield is shorter on the coupe, the roof is lower.

The rear window stuff would have to be like a complete bolt-in conversion kit, I would even want the panel that the shaft comes through.

Visors, I would want the clips with the electrical contact if they are good. They would probably be the same as a sedan anyway.

Weatherstrips would have to have no cracks.

How are those cloth seats? Not practical to ship, but the thought of them is interesting.

Wow... I guess I have my monday booked for a few hours..lol.

I will check out the windshield, and see what kind of numbers I can get off of the block. I will also check out the weather stripping, and see how much of a bear it is to remove the back windows. I'll also eyeball the interior itself to see in how good of a shape it is (the drivers side had sheepskin on it- I didn't look underneath)

The odometer reads just under 90k miles. I am thinking they may be original miles, just because they (odometers) usually last a little longer before they break (but you never know) The bumpers are DOT, as are the headlights.

I'll check back here later today to see about other questions/requests.

Twitch- How about sending me a PM and giving me an idea as to how much you wanna spend on the windows? (I know as little as possible )

Thanks y'all!

-Larry
