FS: 334mm Brembo brake upgrade for W124, W201, R129
What's included:
Used front Brembo aluminum calipers and used brake pads, for rotor size 334x32mm. The rear calipers are SOLD (but I can get another set if you want them.) The front brakes require 17" wheels. What's NOT included: Rotors are NOT included. I can provide two brand-new Genuine Mercedes-Benz cross-drilled front rotors for an additional $200 with free shipping, OR I can provide you the part numbers so you can purchase them yourself at your local Mercedes dealership. (They will probably cost you $200 plus tax at your local dealer.) I have part numbers for solid (non-drilled) rotors as well, if you'd prefer those. What cars they fit: These brakes will fit all 1992-1995 400E, 500E, E420, and E500 E-class models; as well as R129 SL-class models from 1990 through 1998, including the 300SL, 500SL, 600SL, SL320, SL500, and SL600. This brake kit is the original equipment on 1999-2002 SL500 and SL600. The brakes can be made to fit all other 1986-1995 W124's (E-class) and 1984-1993 W201's (190E/190D) with additional modifications (email me if you need info on this). What else is out there: Bekkers sells the identical front brake setup with new calipers, rotors, and pads for $1989! The StopTech 355mm setup is fabulous but requires 18" wheels, and costs $2500. AFAIK, these are the only two commonly available "off the shelf" big-brake options for the W124, R129, and W201 chassis. Get them here for less than half the cost anywhere else! These are extremely difficult to locate used. FAQ's: The front brakes should be a complete bolt-on for the W124 V8 models and all SL models, other than removing the extra locating pin on the front hub as the 334mm rotors have one hole, not two. The front dust/splash shield may need to be bent slightly for clearance. No spacers, brackets, or anything else is required to mount the calipers. If you are not sure what size brakes are currently on your car, and would like to know how much of a difference there would be, email me and I can tell you what the dimensions of your stock brakes are. This setup should provide incredible stopping power for ANY 124, 129, and 201 car and provide fade-free performance even under hard racetrack abuse. Pricing: Rear brakes are SOLD. I'm asking $550 for the fronts calipers with used pads. If there are no bites here they'll go on eBay when I have time to list them. FREE SHIPPING! Photos are below. Email me with questions (email is easier than PM's for me, unless you'd rather not use email, in that case PM away. ) Best regards, Last edited by gsxr; 06-08-2005 at 02:00 PM. Overkill for a stock 190D-T, yes. However if yuo gave it the Finnish SuperTurbo treatment, the big Brembos would be 'adequate'... picture 400hp in a car that weighs 3000lbs...!

It's the same calipers Bekkers sells in their $2000 Stage III Brake Kit, but at less than 1/3 the price... |

Tomsa,
I replied to the email address you provided - let me know if you don't receive it. One last item I should have mentioned - my offer of free shipping is for the lower 48 states in the USA only. Anything overseas and S&H is extra - sorry! Cost of international shipping is too expensive for heavy items like this. I need your country, city, and postal code to give a shipping estimate & delivery time. |

Update: I have another set available, these include used rotors - see photo below. I also have a set of the R129 knuckes (required for M103-powered W124's and most W201's.) Bekkers still has these as a "Stage III" kit for almost $2000, click this link for details... I'm selling the identical setup but with used parts instead of new.

I have 17" wheels on my w201 with a 30mm offset. I take it to run these brakes I would need to use a spacer to clear?

I don't think you'll need spacers for the wheels, they should clear the calipers. However since the rotors are 6mm deeper than most other 124/201 setup, you may need the R129 knuckles+hubs to create the necessary clearance between the rotor and the ball joint. I have a set of those avaialble as well.
Looks like you have a 190E-16? In that case you do need either the R129 knuckles+hubs, or you'd need to replace your lower control arms with the late 124 style with welded ball joints (NOT cheap). It should all bolt on though - no mods needed. You would probably want the matching rears, those are much cheaper than the fronts, and easily available... |
