Does anyone know or have the lower engine covers for 93 400e W124? I would like to save money and purchase used.

As of mid-2004, a new one was $110 retail, $88 wholesale. Part number 124-524-31-30. Might not be much savings to buy used. You'll need the six screws also (201-990-05-36).

The 1984 300SD didn't have a factory sound panel, but you could buy an accessory metal skid plate thingy to protect the oil pan.

The 1993 300D has two sound panels:
124-520-95-23 (front, engine) - $192 list
124-520-31-24 (rear, tranny) - $278 list

These cost more because they have molded acoustic foam attached to reduce the noise level. The 400E panel is plain plastic, no foam.

You'd be happy you don't have those covers if you knew the prices..

MB list for the front and rear covers on my 300SDL is $750 total. I think wholesale was somewhere around $450 for the pair.

My rear one is in two pieces and the front one has cracks in it and I'll have to live with it! When I had a 300SD I always wanted those covers too, but now I have cracked ones and they look awful to me.

My two piece W124 is cracked also! My 1984 never had one! With all the oil leaks it's probably a good thing not to have one. I knew those first prices sounded cheap! LOL! I bet that insulated two piece really helps quiet
the diesel engine, protect it, keep it clean and maintain heat. I do want one but not at those prices.
