FS: W210 Optical Fiber CD changer
I have a CD Changer from my '00 E55 W210 for sale. IT doesn't have the loading cartidge. IT comes with a custom flush mount trunk setup (left side of the trunk).
Asking $325obo. |
Alright I'll throw in a 6 disc cartidge in it as well.

Buy that thing, I need to unload it ASAP! (ie I need the money now!) :)

Doctor:
I don't suppose that CD changer would fit in and interface with a '99 SLK 230, would it? If so, yes, I'm interested. Thanks, Richard :) :) :) |
I'm 99% sure that it does. Let me do my homework on it and I 'll get back to you ASAP.
|
If the CD changer has an optical interface it will NOT function with a 99 CLK.
CLK's didn't start using optical D2B until I believe 2002! |

ok from what I gathered, in 98 is when the SLK changed to the fiber optic system, therefore your car will accept this changer without any problems :)
|
I am not sure of the year the the optical started in the SLK either but 98 seems way too early. I still think it was 2002.
Unfortunately I can't find my list with start dates but you can easily tell. The D2B optical connector is about 1/2" wide by 1/4" high by about 1" long. There are two (2) optical leads connected. If you have this, you have D2B. If not, it's an analog system. |
Well, guys, I'll find out for sure. The seller of this car is taking it to the dealer Thrusday for a pre-sale oil change, and I'll find out then. The car in question is a 99 SLK 230. One problem I see is that the CD changer that Mercedes sold (and sells) for this SLK IS trunk-mounted. But again, I'll find out for sure in two days.
Thanks, Richard :) :) :) |
I found part of my D2B M-B application list, but it is not prepared by M-B so accuracy is not assured.
It shows that all 1999 models except S & ML class have D2B and all 2000-2002 have D2B. This does not make sense as my 2000 SL500 does NOT have D2B! So, can't be sure at the moment of this accuracy. You have to physically look at the input connectors as I had described. |
The cable should be on the right side, and it is fiber optic c able according to many users and posts on mbworld and mercedesshop.

I checked with Steve Krabbenborg from Holland, and D2B first arrived in 1999 in the E class cars.
Steve is the guy who does all of the installs of CD changers, Command navigation systems, steering wheels, instrument clusters, Xenon headlights, etc. His website is www.mbenznl.com He comes to Southern California once / quarter to do the installs. In fact, he is coming out to Huntington Beach at the end of March, and is doing a Command install in my new 2000 E430. |

I have a 1999 E320 4Matic wagon in need of a changer. Do you still have it? Thanks,
Joe |
