I was wondering if anybody has the piece that fills where the liscence plate would go on the front. Currently where I live you don't have to have a front plate, therefore I would like to get the fill in piece. The dealer wants too much.

Got one for my '94 E420. Cost about $125. They don't come pre-painted, so you probably also have to buy the paint. (I got the paint for free b/c the dealer sort of screwed up.) Then the paint comes in little spray cans! Thought it would be weird, but it worked out great. You could also take it to a shop to have them spray it, but I don't know how expensive that would be. Having said all that, I haven't seen a lot of W124's with that piece on it, so you may have to bite the bullet and buy it from the dealer...or from the parts guys here on the website. Good luck. -Mitch

Hi Steve,

I have a 1992 300E and I too, wanted to fill in the space where the front license plate goes. I went to Performance Products in Van Nuys, California and found the part for $56.16 These guys are very reasonably priced and will match prices as well. Makes the front end look much cleaner and it was a snap to install. I didn't have to paint it since it was the exact same bumper material and color. I believe the 1988 300E's had the dark gray bumpers as well. Here's their link http://www.************************ or call 1-800-243-1220
the part number is 88-301

Just to let you know, this part comes in two almost identical forms except for the way they are mounted to the bumper. Make sure you get the right one for your model year as the mounting is completely different. Fortunately, I visited the store in person and was able to see the two parts and choose the correct one for my 92' It would be a bummer if you order by mail and get the wrong one. Have fun!
