Thumbs up 2.47 Limited Slip Differential Package

I have for sale a 2.47 LSD, two axle with good CV boots on each end, and a 170 MPH speedometer calibrated to read correct at this ratio. These parts came from a nice 1986 560 SEC that had 155,854 on the clock. You can refer to this thread regarding the benefits of this setup:

1982 300SD Gets 2.47 Diff with LSD!

If you’re interested in this setup, please feel free to PM me with any questions. I'm asking $350 for the package and open to offers, thanks

Just quick note to prevent any confusion, if it is from an 86 560 SEC you cannot use this in a W123 or 1st gen W126. If however this is a center type diff you should be fine.

Thats a good deal for $350 shipped, but yes, wont work in many pre 1986 models. It would be good for say anyone with a 300SDL wanting to lower RPMs etc.

John, what's the problem with the early cars?

Subframe mounting points?

Jim

onetime I switched the covers and it worked.

That is a great price man! You should keep it, that is a great ratio.

SDL Differential ratio!

The 86/87 SDL's had a non-LSD 2.88 differential that uses the same mounting system as the 2.47 LSD. Good Luck!

If I read this correctly, you want to install the 2.47 LSD carrier in the 2.87 unit (300SDL came with a 2.87 ratio diff)? If so, that is not possible. The 300SDL 2.87 ratio diff uses a 185mm ring gear carrier. Where else the 2.47 uses a 210mm ring gear carrier.

Bottom line, if you want to use the 2.87 ratio housing, you will need a 185mm LSD ring gear carrier.

Here's another revival

I just today swapped a "large housing" 1.3L oil capacity 2.47 ratio diff and halfshafts from a 420sel, which was at my local PullaPart, $88! into a 300sdl which had the "small housing" 1L oil capacity 2.88 ratio. I only swapped the diff and halfshafts and everything bolted up fine! I mainly did it to have a more calm demeanor around 75-85 mph range and to possibly improve gas mileage. I can't wait to put some miles on this experiment!
