I was at the junkyard today getting some stuff and they just put out a 1961 190b it was closing time so I did not give it a real through going over but the body seemed rust free. It is red the engine is complete including air cleaner the radiator looked pretty good the interior is shabby the bumpers I think were ok the chrome door handles window handles had some pitting of the chrome the ash tray and all knobs are there but showing wear I don’t really know what to look for on these old gassers The engine block and head looked recently painted This yard is normally expensive $45 door, hood, fender, little stuff is almost all $10 lights with chrome $25 but April 15,16,17 is half price. PS I got the one good hub cap the steering wheel center cap and tomorrow if I can I am going back and will take the steering wheel I am dying to go back because I found a w116 EURO with washer wipers on the head lights and W116 are my choice in cars I want the wipers bad. But if any one is into 190b I have the plate that gives the chassis # and other information about the car. Let me know

i had one of those, a 62... from 1974 til 76 or so. bought it for $500. it looked good but had rust in the floors. fixed the floors. drove it 80,000 miles, enjoyed the hell out of it. collected over $600 from accidents where people hit me... never fixed any of the damage and sold it for $300. nice driving car and pretty good value. then lost my way and had a corvair, an opel, two saabs a bmw before coming back to mercedes... now i have had about 30 mercedes in all... guess you could say i am sold on mb.

Yes it looked like it would be a real fun quirky car to drive. I cant count the number of times I have been rear ended hit in parking lots I was even hit buy a drunk mail man in his mail truck he rammed me on purpose because he was nuts. All minor damage I always got my estimates from the Cadillac dealers and a Mercedes dealer. Never once did I get the minor damage fixed but the money was always greater than what I paid for the car. I can’t wait for the day if it ever comes that I Owen an old 190d as it is now in my 240d every time I look in my rear view mirror there is some one four inches of my bumper turning different shades of read with various amounts of smoke coming out of there ears. It used to stress me out but now I enjoy the drive and they can go around I am going the posted speed limit and I enjoy the slower pace life I live now.
