Need EZL for my 300CE Deperate!

Well we finally confirmed that it is the EZL that has failed on my car...

The problem, the part is on national backorder!!! and it is very expensive!

If anybody can find one at a local junkyard that is working, or can locate me one for a good price, please let me know!!!

I have 2 part numbers, either one will work!

My original part: 016 545 0432
Another part number: 010 545 9532

I am calling on all my mercedes enthusiasts for your help. I found one, but it was $1500.00! and I really do not want to spend that much if I can help it.

If anybody has a line on oe of these with one of those part numbers, Please get back to me.

you can e-mail me at w124mbz(at)gmail.com

(replace (at) with @ symbol)

Ebay has plenty of them for the m103 engine for cheap, but none for my m104 engine..

I need this part to get my car back on the road...

Please help!

Alon

Is the lack of supply because this is a 3.0 liter M104 enigne (M104.990), and there weren't that many sold, at least in the U.S.?

also could I get a local dealer to buy the part from mb canada? my brother works for beverly hills mercedes, and I could get it at employee price for like $1100, but since it is out of stock and on back order in the U.S. and germany, the part is not available..

Also will the same part from any country work? like say if I could get one from australia?

Thanks again,

Alon

I would love to spend as little as possible to get the part...

If I can't find one within the next week, I may just bite the bullet and buy a cheap car to drive until I can locate the part..

I happened to be a week late in finding one for $500.00 pisses me off. I only just found out that mbca has a forums section and thats where the part was. I'm hoping the guy the bought it didnt buy it to have as a spare...

Is it possible to open the ezl up and repair it?

Would I be better off looking into an aftermarket programmable engine management system that would replace the factory ECU, ingnition control module and all?

MB Doc, let me know if you can find the part and the price when you get a chance.

Thanks again for all your help with this...

Alon

There is a company that advertises in The Star magazine that rebuilds these EZL's. They might even sell rebuilt units.

Beckmann Technologies, Inc.
800-742-1021

They are in Durham, NC.

Also, Gerryvz has visited a huge MB dismantler in the U.K.

He has posted pics of his visit there in the 500e.com forum. I'm sure they'd have one.

Did you try the MB dismantler in anaheim:

through a member here who e-mailed me...

I'm just glad I found it for that price. I found a few at some scrap yards and they wanted like $1500.00 for it! and couldn;t guarantee it worked and did not give warranty on it.

So, forgive a dumb question but what is an EZL (and where is it located, what does it look like)? I am parting out an 88 300E and may have something useful / valuable that I don't know about.

Thanks
