For Sale Alpine H/U Model 7892

For sale an Alpine 7892 h/u. It has AM/FM stereo, plus built in CD palyer and it can also control an Alpine CD changer. Remote handheld unit included.

I bought the h/u new a couple of years ago for our 300TE. I recently updated the 300TE's h/u with another Alpine and I don't need this one.

$100.00 plus shipping (from California) or reasonable offer.

For anyone else though, the price for this one is a steal, so jump on it!

That was not a solicited endorsement.

But it is sure welcome!

Huh?

I am "old school" and don't know the term "head unit" Is this the in-dash part of a car stereo system? I want to replace the Becker cassette playing radio in my 300SDL for a radio with CD player. Don't care about MP3. Would your unit fit the bill?

The headunit, or h/u, is the radio unit itself. It is what goes in the dashboard with all the controls, i.e., volume, station, etc.

This one has the usual AM/FM controls, plus a CD player plust it can control a CD changer.

I assume your 300SDL is a w126, right? then it should fit. I had a similar unit installed in my former 1991 420SEL. I am not an installer, however, so you should check around first.

Thank you

Benz LGB,

I must be Benz SAT if you are LGB. I will buy your H/U. Yes, my 1987 300SDL is a W126 car. What do I need to do to install your Alpine unit aside from the "in-dash" part? If you send me a pm with your name and address, I will put a check in the mail to you for the unit plus postage (to 78003).

Thanks again.

Alpine radios come with mounting brackets and a short wiring harness to splice into your factory harness.

This radio will fit in the hole perfectly. Alpine also gives you the wiring color scheme right on the underside of the radio as a quick reference for installation. They make it very easy.

I don't get the SAT reference, I was thinking LGB was Lehmann Gross Bahn? Its been awhile but I still have mine somewhere... nice outside layout at one time too... or I'm way off and that doesnt make any sense to anybody

Thank you

Yes, thank you, Johnhef. The LGB reference is to the airport code for Long Beach, CA. San Antonio, TX is SAT.

Good to know that unit will fit so well. My kids and girlfriend will be thrilled.

John...not only do you give my stereo an unsolicited plug (pun intended) but you give tech references to it AND you're a big train fan.

Yes the reference to LGB is to the BIG TRAINS (although every time I Google LGB I get LesbianGayBisexual references and sites ).

I have an outdoor layout. Iused to work/play onit every weekend. But it has been a couple of years since I've played with them. I have to do major overhaul of the layout. I seemed to have a lot more time when the kids were little....

I've not even run my LGB shay in years. I took it out of its case and ran it twice, then it went back to the case. Maybe this coming Spring and Summer I'll finally get back to it...

Again, thanks for the plug and the tech reference.

ATATEXAN, the h/u is with my "stereo guy." He was trying ot sell it for me at his shop. I'll go pick it up tomorrow and get it ready to ship. I'll PM you with details.

I'll need a shipping address (and whether it is a business or a home, (FedEx wants to know) and method of shipment you want.

Thanks for buying the unit.

Best regards....

While we have a few LGB pieces, most of it is aristo and early on, was bachmann. The layout is at my dad's house down in Virginia. I think it was about 500ft of track but its been awhile I dont remember. Last I heard from him, he was building a shed to store all the rolling stock in on track. 16'x32' !!! Theres already two large ponds, 10ft bridge, and 8ft tunnel. I really should get down there more often!

That is a very nice size layout. We have a small pond, a waterfall and two tunnels. Ijust havenot had much of a chance to upkeep the layout.

I have some Aristo and Bachmann pieces (I have the Bachmann Shay as well as the LGB Shay). I ofund that for outdoor running the LGB is more reliable. Aristo are good if you run them on battery power so you don'thave to worry about dirty track. I only wish all of these companies decided on one single, universal scale. LGB looks way out of scale if you run them alongside Bachmann or USA or Aristo.

It is nice to hear about other large-scalers out there!
