German "D" badges

Does anyone know of a source for the "D" badges that were used in Europe to ID German cars when they traveled over borders, etc.?? I am particulary looking for the vinyl ones that are magnetic and can be applied to the car anywhere metallic ... thanks, Ben Carter

I don't know about the magnetic kind, but I just bought three of the sticker type from www.cafepress.com Do a search for "D oval sticker" and it should come up, they're $3-4 or so....

License plate site

Thanks; I did go to that site you recommended and sent an email re: the "D" tags for German cars. You have quite a car collection; do all the Corvettes run well ??

German "D" badges

I got a reply from the site you recc and they have many badges for all kinds of country designation. They are created with an aluminum backing and adhesive for attachment. However, they are charging $25 apiece for them, which I think is kind of a "ripoff" considering other sources and types. I have ordered two of the cheaper vinyl stickers from www.cafe and want to see what the guy at Heckflosse comes up with also. Thanks for the tip tho'

If they don't have the magnetic ones...I know of another place that does. Let us know how you make out with them.

Yes, thanx ! the old Vettes do run well, real well actually. the 54' is un-restored and only has 63K on it. The 58' has been 'restored' and few times, but not correctly from what I see. Looks good though but neither of them are concorse winners I'm afraid. :(

try these too...you may have to mount the sticker on a sheet of mag film and cut-out if no luck, film you can get cheap from any race supply catalog selling numbers.

i think www.decalgirl.com has them also

You could put the decal on a magnet to make your own "D":D

"D" decals

Thanks to all the suggestions, I now have eight of these decals coming from three sources, in a couple of versions ... one with the German flag in color and the word "Deutchland" on it.... amazing what is out there if you tap the collective in this forum. Also the Heckflosse fintail forum, which is small but international in its membership, has a lot of devoted Mercedes fans as members ... many of whom are in Germany, Norway, Holland, etc.

Thanks to everyone who came up with a source .... Ben Carter
