Hi,

Theoretically it should be possible. There have been numerous turbocharged gas engines around. GM had the Corvair and some other models in the early 60's. In the 80's there was the Buick Grand National with a turbocharged V-6.

My suggestion would be to research performance and turbo specialty shops in your area. In my area (Vancouver Island) there is a shop that specializes in performance for diesel pickups, which naturally includes turbos.
Truck type type shops may be worth checking out.

I don't know if you would be better off using Merc diesel parts or looking for an aftermarket kit. In either case some fabrication will probably be involved.

My 2 cents worth.

I think it would be a hot car, let us know if you do it.
