Any serious Pre-Bay interest? I have a 603.961 with 260K on the odometer, I assume everything is original – timing chain, vac pump, valve seals etc. It’s got a #14 head.

It starts right up and did so at 8 F this last February, after a couple minutes it runs smooth and quiet with the exception of the tensioner shock !!!! You can put pressure on the shock and the noise disappears! I suspect the compression is good as it starts easily and runs smooth. It does smoke a little, I suspect it’s a combination of timing chain wear induced error and injector wear at this mileage.

I have driven the car about 300 miles total both on the highway to 90 MPH and through stop and go city traffic. There is absolutely no sign of overheating, 85 C with only a couple degree’s swing either way under these conditions. There is no oil in coolant nor coolant in oil, there is no residual pressure in the system with a known good cap.

The engine is still installed in an 87 SDL and can be run and driven around the block, its not registered or insured so a highway run is at your own risk with a deposit! I haven’t done a compression test but I have a tester and would do one with the prospective buyer present.

I’m looking to sell the long block, no accessories, no manifolds, turbo, injectors, fan/clutch as I’ve got a couple other 603 engines that I keep parts for, but will consider your specific situation. Ideally if your 603 engine has failed or your cylinder head is cracked you can buy this long block pull the good parts of your engine and install them on this one and be good to go.

The engine/ car is located in SE Mass just over the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne, MA where it can be inspected and run. I’ll be keeping the engine in the car so a prospective engine buyer can hear and see it run, until its sold, after which I’ll be parting out whatever chassis components I don’t need. I don't think that I'll be parting the engine as it's complete and running well as is. Unfortunately there are quite a few 603 shortblocks in need of a head, so there's not much of a market for them. Thanks for the interest, if things change I'll keep your request in mind.

It is late for me... I see that you have a person interested in the short block. I am still intersted in the complete head assy. I did not see what you were asking for the complete long block? What would you want for the head if you considered selling it alone? I do not mean to push... I have a bad head in an otherwise very nice 87tdt. Thanks
