280 SE 3.5 coupe

So today I am all done at pick-n-pull and what do they bring out but a 280SE 3.5 straight body no rust 61K on the clock. The guy I know who works there says it would start but run terribly misfiring so they put it in the yard. White interior just a bit to ratty to be good except some things the passenger carpet is in great shape except some soda stains the arm rest are perfect the under dash panels are great. All windows work the tail lights had two small cracks big drag
The bumpers and the baby bumpers looked very good. is there a re-sale market for those would I make my $150 for all back on eBay. the front headlights looked great for some reason I think it is a EURO well if any one needs parts I will get them for you for cost plus $15 an hour to pull haul ect them let me know quick because it will get thrashed quick. I will be putting the wood and a lot of the chrome on EBay soon/

1970 280se 3.5

I know it is a 280SE 3.5 only because that is what the trunk said and the wood trim tipped it as a 280SE I know it was a coupe when I noticed no rear doors LOL
It could be a 1971 or a 1969 if they were manufactured then but 1970 is probably correct. I see many junk yards 5 to 30 a week. 3 years ago, I saw a blue 300 SEL with mint black interior the best blue paint my eyes ever saw with 25K on the clock and it looked like it had been garaged washed and waxed the day before they put it out in the self-serve junk yard. I offered the guy 5 grand for it he would not sell unless I took it all apart and paid bit by bit. This is the first car since then that has caught my eye at all it doesn’t hold a light to the 300SEL but it is special and should be saved in as much as possible. This car has a wood steering wheel not a MBZ wheel at all what popular steering wheels were installed on these.

Shipping is going to be an issue what part of the world do you live in. Heck getting them home will be fun there a bit large for my car but little stuff can be delt with. There not glued on like the W107 fenders are are they?

I'm in Denver. You could ask the junk yard who they use to ship. No glue, they just bolt on. Try to take some pictures if possible. If the hood and grill are still good, I could convert mine to a low grill coupe.

Sorry I have been Ill I checked the fenders thoroughly for rust and the last place I stabbed with a screwdriver it figures RUST. The hood was good and the grill was missing 1 chrome strip and the Mercedes star but other than the ugly green paint, it seemed fine.

The fenders

The fenders have rust on the metal bracket, which is welded to the underside of the fenders closest to the passenger compartments. This car is just sitting until it is crushed in a Few weeks what a shame.

Is there anyway you could take some pictures? There shouldn't be any brackets welded onto the fenders as they bolt on. Are you talking about the bottom part where it is bolted onto the body? That is a rust spot as well as the headlight buckets. How bad is the rust and what are they asking for them? Also the driver side rear bottom bumper section and the passenger side bottom chrome molding would be of interest if no rust, dents and the chrome is decent.

Ok

Ok I took some pictures PM me an email address to send them to. I pulled the lights one fender rusted through there one is ok but there is a rusted through part of the fender which is a welded on channel for strength I have to be somewhere 5 minutes ago but the picture should show what I mean but I think the passenger side fender is ok rust and all. Assuming my pictures came out I will try to post some tonight but I have never seen a car striped as fast as this one.
