Drove by a dealership today near my house (Portland, Oregon). Saw silver '93 300CE w/69K miles listed for $25K. Salesman as much as told me I could get it for under $20. I don't need one. I have my E420. Just passing on the info for anyone interested. Gorgeous car. --Mitch

Still high!
Mitch,
Should sell for $18,500 tops if in excellent condition and with chromes, CD, slip, etc. I'm a sucker for an MB coupe! Just look below! |

More info from dealer
Went and checked it out today. Seem to be several "issues":
1. It has sportline badges, but only 15" wheels. I thought all sportlines had 16's. 2. Only 69K miles, but seems to be a lot of wear. Rubber door seals don't look so good; thermometer doesn't work; sunroof works, but closes slowly; several small fissures/ cracks in wood throughout interior; leather cracking on center console lid; POS H-rated no-name tires; much smaller battery than stock; small dent in hood (that could easily be fixed). 3. Had them check history. Looks like car has been sold at auction 4-5 times (poor car--what a waste!) 4. Asking $25K. I interpreted a little dealer sticker code to mean they would "settle" for $23.9. I told the guy it needed a lot of work, pointed out problems, etc. Sales manager said bottom line they had to get $17.6. BTW, this is a Dodge dealer--they bought car at auction, and are shipping it down to California on Thursday to sell to some more, unsuspecting schmuck down there. ANY THOUGHTS??? TIA, Mitch. |

Price is going down fast!
Mitch,
1. Don't think so. Had a Sportline and it had 15" wheels. The "E" class has 15" wheels. But the Sportline's ride like a truck (for my taste)! 2. With lots of wear; rubber door seals are bad ($50); thermometer doesn't work ($17); sunroof works, but closes slowly (maybe just a lube); several small fissures/ cracks in wood throughout interior (that's harder to fix!); leather cracking on center console lid (ditto!); POS H-rated no-name tires ($650 for Michelins); much smaller battery than stock ($100); small dent in hood (place in SD, CA fixes for $75 if paint ok). The price is dropping fast! 3. History shows car has been sold at auction 4-5 times makes it a tough buy. (very tough buy; more $$ deducted!) Did you look for leaks. The 3L and 3.2L are famous for leaks from the front seals and possibly the main seals. If so, there's another $800+ to fix. Also does it have a CD player, phone, chromes, premiums sound? Bottom line: Minus the goodies above, it's worth around $15,100. With the goodies, and put into "Very Good/Excellent" condition, about $19,000. That's the way I see it! |

If someone did not take care of it, you don't want it. You can buy them all day long with service records in mint shape for $20k. I would rather pay the extra $3k for the piece of mind that miles are true and car is maintained.
