I Need an A/C compressor.

Ok, Who's got a good, nice working A/C compressor for my 1979 300CD non turbo car they'll sell me ?
Where can I find a new one if nobody does ?
Got a whole host of other parts I need on my list also, but this is as good a place as any, to start.

I've got one from a '80 300SD engine. It spins freely but I'm not sure if it works. $5 plus shipping :D

Your year shows 2 different types. One of them is an R4 (GM) available at most generic auto parts store. Same goes for the York.
Concensus is, that the rebuilts are iffy, and it's best to go with new.

I probably will end up going with new.

In the end I think I'll go new. I don't know which the car has right now either. I'm 2900 miles away from it, so I can't run out and look right now.
i'm also curious to know what the correct radiator is supposed to be in the car? All of my 300CD's have plastic ones in them. I was informed by the parts store that they have metal ones available for significantly more money. The old one lasted such a long time though, and there wasn't anything wrong with it until I made the stupid mistake of leaning on the neck, and breaking it right off. :( I felt like such a numb-nuts when did that , and I'm a little embarassed to mention it. Should I just go with the new plastic one again  ? I promise I won't lean on it again... I learned my lesson..:scholar:

If you want a warranted used one, goto www.pgauto.com, they cover them for 90 days, but offer up to 3 years warranty for $30 a year.
