560 Sel Motor
Does any one have a 560 motor available? I just purchased a 560sel with #5 not having any compression. Guess i need a motor. Does anyone know if i can switch with a 420 or 300??? Please let me know if you have a motor. If i can't find a motor for the vehicle at a reasonable price i will be parting the car out. I hate to do that since this vehicle has no rust new tires and perfect leather. Please advise!
Thanks

You need a 560 motor
The 560 has the hydraulic self leveling rear suspension. The hydraulic pump is mounted on the front of the motor and is driven by the timing chain just like the 300TD wagon...

Just get the block off plate like the M117 have in the R107... I have the swap going currently for my 420. Same goes for the reverse, the SLS pump will fit an M116. Worst case, why not pick up a Euro 5.0L and drop in there? Performance should be a bit better, just a bit less torque. Those are common here, I got very lucky when I nabbed my 5.6 for next to nothing.

Do you have any leads on a 5.0L euro? I am hoping that the valve is just stuck open or it needs new rings. I asked grandpa (retired mercedes mechanic) and he mentioned the valve stuck open or may need new rings. Said to have a compression test to make sure. It is getting towed to the mechanic tomorrow to find out. Hopefully it is a easy fix. Keep all fingers crossed.

Do you know if i would have to change the wiring harness or the ignition coil if i would go with a 420 motor or a 300 motor? If i would get it from like 86-91 model? I am not sure about a 380 motor at all, I did have a 380sl at one point and it caused me a lot of trouble. I am usually a diesel fanatic, but i couldn't pass up the price on this 86 560sel with 177k on it. I did pull a car fax today on the car and it originally came from California and transplanted to Ohio about year and half ago! That explains why there is no rust on the car!!!!!

I wouldn't put in a 420 motor or the M103. If you dont want to fix it, I know plenty of people that'd buy a nice 560 that needs a new motor.
