Tom, I believe I can get one but it will run about $350 or so. Not sure about the shipping. It weighs 38lbs.

For what year??? Also I wonder if the SD flywheel is the same thing??? I have the flywheel from an 81 300SD engine in the garage..Also still have the motor and tranny that were pulled from a 79 300D wagon.....Haven't separated motor from tranny yet...

Flywheels are from manual transmission cars only.

The auto trannies have em don't they? I thought they're just significantly lighter?

Yeah, then what do you call the plate that the tranny attaches too on an automatic??? It also attaches to the end of the crankshaft....Still a flywheel in my book, the starter engages the ring on the edge of it....

i think most folks refer to the thing you run the starter against and bolt the torque converter to as a "flex plate".

Flex plate is correct, and is not the same thing as a flywheel on a manual trans, a true flywheel is heavier and solid to not give under pressure load, a flex plate is the opposite, to allow the converter metal to grow and shrink as fluid pressure is applied harder and lighter to it via engine load, without harming the engine thrust bearings.

I'm using a 200D flywheel w/o problems. No unusual vibrations. The bigger issue I believe is the 300D drive shaft with dampener. GL in finding that.

i am going to use the 240 fw.

thanks to all who responded.
