"Someone" has the "MERCEDES" part of your "MERCEDES-BENZ" sign.
I'll bet the whole signage package is from the old Decatur dealership.

That's a massive amount of "bling" for the right rapster. Either as a hood ornament or a grill ornament. Would look good on a semi-tractor too.

I thought of this, but considering where I'm located and where I found the sign, I'd bet it was from the Athens Mercedes dealership.... but I'm not quite old enough to have seen the dealership back in the 70s or 80s, so I'm unsure if they ever even had a sign like this one.

Anyone have any 70s/80s pictures of Mercedes dealerships, specifically around Atlanta?

Upon further inspection, most if not all of the wiring is there inside the big sign. The only thing missing on it (I think) would be a plastic ring to go around the edge of both sides of the sign and the plastic that covers the "star" part of one side of it, and of course you'll need lights for it.
I think with a little bit of work, this could be turned into a damn cool light/decoration for a large garage/shop.

I think I'm hanging on to the "benz" letters, but I'm thinking about throwing the big sign on ebay to see what it brings. Any takers??

That looks like late 60's - early 70's to me... In 1967 there were only 5 dealerships in GA: Atlanta (RBM), Albany, Augusta, Macon and Savannah. While there were only 2 in SC. Snyder's in Greenville moved to a new location in about 1982 perhaps it came from their old dealership on Buncombe St....
