617 engine block + pistons, crank + transmission FREE

This is just an attempt to get rid of some stuff laying around in my work area that is borrowed from a friend of mine. I'm sure he'd be glad to see most of my stuff disappear.

After swapping parts etc in the engine swap and other adventures between two '79 SD's I'm left with a few parts that I'll never have the time to touch since I'm now studying for the bar exam and in NYC. If anyone wants to recover them they are free of charge, but you'll have to go pick them up.

There's the following

617 Engine block with 4 good pistons, approximately 247K miles on it
Crank and rods are intact
Upper Pan is trashed due to allen key break and subsequent remedial measures (I just needed the oil pump chain tensioner spring and clip)

There is also a 722.120 transmission (4 bolt pan) which is of unknown state. It's still sealed but most of the fluid has leaked out through a failed pan gasket. The torque converter is still attached and has not leaked any fluid. The otherwise trashed cooler lines, are well, bent and trashed. They were on their way out anyway.

Oh yeah, there's a 617 head there as well which has probably seen some rain, has a few pits from a glow plug playing games inside the cylinder but as I'm told rebuildable (no cracks, no warp).

PM me if you want to go grab it and bring some means for lifting the block if you plan on taking it. There is probably a way to do it with a crane, but I haven't thought it through.

As you know, a rebuild of a 617 is an expensive experience so this is for parts (pistons, crank, etc.) or play (popping out sleeves etc. before you test on a live patient).

There's also a 116 body in a second lot with not much left on it but lots of blue trim pieces mainly from the overhead areas.

one final set is the aluminum hood and trunk lid in the cream/yellow color. These are NOT free but up for a sale for any reasonable offer. They can probably be shipped as well.

interested in the 116...

Hi,

So you're in NYC? Whereabouts? If the body of the 116 isn't too rusty, I'd love to cut some pieces off of it. I'm in Brooklyn... let me know what you think when you get a chance. Oh, and are the bumpers still there? Mine are shot.

thanks,
Dave

Sorry. Car is located in NEW ORLEANS (just to be clear to everyone).

Body is not in good condition, that's why I parted it out (mostly for my other SD)...glass is still all there and bumpers are laying around too.
