need a very supportive seat for autocrossing

an actual racing seat is a possibility or a 190 sixteen valve seat possibly...also a five point harness.

i went autocrossing today and was flailiing all over the place inside the trusty 280e.

i will find bruises in odd places i am sure tomorrow!

One word for you buddy...,"Recaro"...You'll find every variety you can think of. They make everything from full race seats, anything in between, or full comfort seats available. I swear by them.
One more thing, is that they were AMG installed, back in the day, so they will very likely still make a direct fit, set of brackets for it.

one word for me man,

cheap.

unless i can find some used i wont be buying any recaros anytime soon.

i am not willing to invest as much in my seat as my entire car!

thanks for the thought though, i will check ebay.

Hey Tom..If you are looking for a cheap set, here's a little FYI.

A few years back, my brother had a 91 VW Jetta, GTI. The car had these really awesome, Recaro seats in it. They were factory installed, and were like a hand, holding the driver, and passenger in the seats. They were really nice seats. You should find a set, if you look for a GTI parts car or a pick n pull who has one. The things are ridiculously durable, so even all these years later, provided you beat another guy to them, you'll be able to get a nice pair out of one of those cars.

like truckinik said about the old GTI's and junk yards... Check your late model civics for race seats since they tend to end up in there

I gotta agree on the GTi (and I think GLi) seats. Saw them at the wreckers here a few months ago, woulda picked em up, but they were so torn and smelled like cats. Beautiful seats though.

Install a 5-point harness first.

That's what I did on my 500E and C36-powered W124 wagon.

Works wonders, and I still get to keep my seats.

I am working on the harness. It may do the job. It is impressive!

I have (1) seat, driver's side non electric, brown fabric I think the brand is Flofit .It resembles the Corbeau I had before .It comes with the rails for a japanses car $80 I'm located in San Diego CA. I really don't want to ship this.

t walgamuth 06-23-2007 08:12 AM

I will take it if the shipping is reasonable.

All one really needs is a 'CG-lock' if you are only a weekend warrior.... certainly the cheapest way to go.
