I have a used 1990 300e 3 liter long block for sale- one of MB's best motors. This engine is intact, with intake and dual exhaust, throttle body, fuel injector distributor, cyclinder head, air conditioning pump, distributor, cam, crankshaft. As pulled when running from my wife's 300e. So, that's a 1990 3 liter 300e inline 6 cylinder w/ 105K miles on it, for an automatic transmission (w/out 4matic). On load pallet.
The good: You'd spend a lot more for all these items individually from a parts shop. If you have a Mercedes, you know what a good cylinder head alone goes for. Motor had only 105K.
the bad: There is/was a knock in the bottom end of the number 6 cylinder. Car was driven on a daily basis, but because it's my wife's car, and driven long-distances, I figured better safe than sorry and dropped in a replacement motor.
The engine was fully functional, and probably would've been good for anywhere from 4,000 to 40,000 miles as is. I could've taken it down and thrown a new piston and connecting rod in, but too many other projects.
