W115 Parts Needed

Hi all,
I have a 1972 220d (her name is Sofia) that has been sitting in my garage for a couple of years since a tree branch dinged the roof. Hubby and I are moving to Maine in 4 weeks and I'd like to be able to drive her up there from CT. Anyone have W115 parts? I WAS going to sell but realize I can no more do that than rip my own heart out! All replies will be appreciated!
Carrie

Before you go looking for parts, wouldn't it be helpful to know what she needs? You seem to be facing a 3 hour drive or a 300$ towing bill. If you have access to a suburban with a trailer hitch, you could carry her yourself even (since Uhaul rents "Auto Transport" trailers for the job.

If you do get her in running condition (after draining all the old fuel, changing the oil and replacing the fuel filter), make sure she survives a pair of drives around town without overheating, stalling too much or having the brakes lock up.

The brake locking issue is a very serious one for a car that's been sitting. Usually, it's from the rubber hoses getting old. Their official life-span is 5 years. They can survive anywhere from 5 to 20, so it's worth being cautious here. There are two symptoms to watch for. (1) hitting the brakes and having the car drift left or right thanks to a front caliper (2) one wheel getting really, really hot.

You really don't want either to happen on your long drive.

Wow! Thanx for all the replies, guys! I spent this morning hand scrubbing the exterior and chatted with the retired mechanic/dealership owner that does work for us (all the way acrosss our front yard at the garage he rents from our landlord). He is going to do the brakes all the way around, repair the roof divet and match-paint the roof and front passenger fender (surface rust, only). The rest of the car finish is still like new and, apart from the surface rust on the passenger fender, there is NO rust on this lovely survivor! The other work he's going to do on it is to change ALL fluids and pressure-check the radiator and hoses. The 4 speed manual transmission is fine...

BTW, what I need for parts are:
1) a foot pump for the window washer
2) a replacement Becker radio
3) the knowledge on how I can remove the heater switch/dash panel on the
1975 W115 parts car I have.
