WTB: Piston for 1979 300D

I am in need of one good used piston for my 1979 300D. The designation stamped on the connecting rod is 621 08. On the face of the piston is "Std" with 0.3 stamped below that. This is for a non-turbo. I am new to engine tear down and repair so bear with me if I am providing too much information.

Email me if you can help me out.

Thanks.

I will take a look to see if I have one.

I don't have any that are not in a motor. I do have some in a 240 motor that has a broken rod. But if I have to get just one out of there I would want to get $40 for it. Shipping will be minimal. If you want it I will also take it by my favorite machinist and have him check to see that it is good.

The 240 and 300 na pistons are the same.

Tom,

Thanks for your reply. I also got an email from forum member jim16671836. It looks like he may have what I need but I am trying to verify whether the pistons that he has are the "Std", Spc. 0.3 size that I need to match the other good pistons that I have. Hold off for now on your offer. I will contact you if what jim16671836 has does't work out.

If what Tom says is correct, then I have 3 I pulled from an '80 240 engine that threw a rod. they look pretty clean, and the engine they came from was clean & had a rebuilders tag on it. I'll have to check the size though, they still have the rods attached, if you want one or all make me an offer, whatever's fair will work. I'll check tomorrow morning what size they are.

ditto here. I have 4 remaining from a 1978 300D that threw a rod as well. Plus one broken piston ashtray

The size will be stamped on the top. I would not know how to determine if they are good by just looking at them. I would take them over to my favorite machinist and have him look at them to tell. He would visually inspect and do the measurements.

No worries. Mine are still in the motor and I would not look forward to tearing it apart for $40 but would do it to keep a fellow shopforumer's diesel going!

Thanks guys. I just had an email exchange with member jim16671836 and the pistons he has are still in a car that is out in the cold Illinois winter weather. He said he could pull the head and see what he has on Wednesday or Thursday, but it would be great if someone already has a good piston, already out of the engine. I look forward to hearing what Mustang man298 has, maybe it can keep Jim inside, warm and in good cheer. Your willingness to help me out is really appreciated. Stay tuned.

Lightbulb 1981 300ce

A friend of mine has an 81 300ce diesel blown head gasket, parting out, and I can tear down the engine if you don't locate one soon. Although I have an 87 also, don't know if it will work but I'll tear it down also...just let me know.

Merry Christmas
