Fuel Line Needed Urgent: '87 300SDL

I am looking for metal fuel line for my 1987 300SDL. The 14mm cap on #4 injector line attached to the pump has sprung a leak. Tightening it didn't help.
If you have a set or just the #4 metal line, let me know. I'll buy from you.

Not sure if Phil sells it separately/individually??

Thanks

Teflon tape

Take it apart and try some teflon tape... there is also a special pipe dope if the line is Stainless... But I would try the teflon tape first........ Jim

Where do u think I can find the teflon tape? Auto parts stores? Phil at Fastlane has it for $52 bucks OUCH!!! Imagine if I have to replace all 6!

I'll try tefon tape method while raking up some change for the new one prolly from Phil.

Teflon Tape

Hardware Stores, PVC, and Auto Stores will carry it... maybe a dollar..
If it seals the leak it will be permanent... Jim

I feel you pain

I've had 3 of those lines crack on my 87'300sdl. I have a machine shop, so I was able to bore out the flare fitting on my lathe and cut off the damaged portion of the line and put it all back together. It should be good for another 274K miles.

I did find myself in charleston SC (2hours from home) with a cracked line right at the injector pump. Needless to say, I don't carry a machine shop with me at all times. I used JB weld 2 part puddy (looks like a big tootsie rool with a gray center). I placed some under the nut, on top of the flare and bolted it back up. I immediatedly put more around the nut and the line. It's still holding after a year.

Good Luck!!

Teflon Tape

If you have the same problem I had...

The issue you'll find with the teflon tape is that the leak isn't coming from around the flare fitting. Its coming from stress crack that has formed in the line at the base of the fitting. Its not really a place where you can get teflon tape under compression to seal.

I don't think the line is cracked due to stress. I think when a friend and I replaced glow plugs a week ago, whe had to remove the intake manifold and so the lines were also pulled out. Upon putting the lines back, maybe the #4 line wasnt seated properly before tightening the nut on the pump causing it to sprung a leak a week after.

Speaking of teflon tape, should u pull the nut up to expose the stopper '=> ' and tape it behind stopper then tighten the nut?

Thanks
