so you actually have the trap oxidizer? They didn;t take it in the recall.

I called MB to see if it ever was replaced and it was in 98. I guess the old one was recalled? This is the new one from 98. The parts for sale are no longer on the car.

My understanding is that Mercedes had a recall on trap oxidizers because something was wrong with them. Something like getting clogged? The one I have is the replacement trap ox that was done in 1998.
If the attached picture is not of a trap ox then what is it? Last edited by Interested; 12-12-2007 at 12:37 PM.

I found out the part I thought was a "trap oxidizer" is actually a "trap catalyst." The part number is 126 490 3414.
A new one from Mercedes is $1750. The difference between the two is that the trap oxidizer needed to be replaced every 30,000 miles whereas the trap catalyst is permanent.

Yes, the Trap Catalyst is still for sale. Mercedes replaced the trap oxidizer with the trap catalyst during the recall campaign. Considering all offers. Shipping will depend on method used and destination.

I went ahead and mailed your parts today. They should arrive towards the end of next week with Monday and Tuesday being a holiday. Let me know when you receive them. Oh, and I packaged each part separately so you should receive two boxes. Thank you.
