Old license plates
 

I have about fifty I suppose. Most are Indiana but I have some michigan, california and other states that I happened to get on a used car. I have 2 1951 plates plus the '52 tags and the '53 tags (from the Korean war era).

Then I have some plates from about 1960 up to the present in various states of condition.

Let me know what you are interested in and I will check to see if I have one.

After I find one we can talk about the price.

what year and colours are the cali plates? any 85's? or w/e

I just have one cali. It is white with the word california in script across the top. It is nice and clean. It came on my pristine 74 240d about 12 years ago. I will go out later and take another look at it if you are interested.

I believe it has red script and blue numerals. it is very clean.

Don, you understand that California did not ever afik have the year on the plates.

yea... I just found out... A lo of the ACVW guys in cali have plates from the year their car was sold.. but I guess those plates stopped after sometime

actually I looked and it appears that it is set up to take a sticker for the year as they are in Indiana.

CA stamped their plates with the year until about 1963 when they started making the last run of black and yellow plates. I think all the 63 -68 black and yellow plates had a 63 stamped on them, but I could be wrong on that. In 69 they went to the blue and yellow plates until 86. After 86 CA had white plates with blue letters/numbers and red "California" The post 86 white plates have been through several minor revisions and at this point have little or no value. The ones you describe with the scripted California are the plates they still issue today.

Tom, What is the first four characters of that plate you have? It will give an indication of when it was issued.

Well, I estimate I have had it for at least ten years....I imagine it is about 15 years old minimum.

I got a pair of black 68 Texas Hemisfair plates

I'd be interested in older Michigan and or foreign plates if you have any
