Wtb: good 603 cylinder head : (

As we all know they are prone to cracking.... as my 150$ junkyard mercedes engine has a cracked head. I just finished school and got back to my project... 87 300sdl horsepower capabilities **newbie**
And from the research I have done I need a cast #22 head. I was originally going to weld the head myself but I hear from other head repair shops it not a good practice with the mercedes heads... I would like to get the project back on the road but no luck with finding a cylinder head.

Any help is appreciated THANKS!
Links, websites, etc. Im a newbie
-Chris

Edit: Could someone help me out with what other cars this engine came in?

All I can think of at the moment. The '90+ cars have the late style heads you want, but you don't want the short block (as it's prone to issues). The '86-87 cars you want the bottom end, but usually have a No 14 head. So check before you buy.

My 14 head is fine (just like MOST are), just blew the gasket on the No 1 port which is common as can be. Since mine has to come apart I'll be upgrading the head while I'm in there.

joey.dale:

Casting number: Located above the #2 injector, 603 xxx yy zz. You need the yy numbers, should be between 14 and 22.
