Hey all,
I have a 1970 280SL I'd like to sell. I bought it from a friend of mine with the intention of doing a bit of work to it and then enjoying it but again, it looks like time has gotten the best of me. So here's the deal:
1970 280SL, Brown/Tan, good condition inside and out. 2 tops (original hardtop in good shape, soft top in good to excellent shape), interior is clean, but could use the standard cleaning. The paint is good and with a compounding and waxing, it will look great. Automatic transmission, new tires, new calipers, brake hoses, rotors and pads. Runs ok but I strongly recommend a tune-up before taking it home (if you're driving it back). It was a Lexington, Kentucky car since the 1970s and was owned by a husband and wife who were thoroughbred horse breeders (the right 1/4 of the windshield is filled up with "thoroughbred and jockey club" membership decals). It was traded in at the MB dealership in Lexington by this couple who bought a CLK convertible to replace it. The radio is not original, but I'll be happy to stick a Becker Europa in there for any nitpickers
It's not a show car, but something to give a little TLC to and enjoy. Make it your winter project and enjoy it next summer, or get on the ball and have a nice little roadster to take fall tours in! The only rust find is a small hole in the floorboard where the gas pedal meets it. All chrome is complete and in good condition, as is the glass, etc.. Asking $10,000obo. E-mail on the side if interested.
