Possible parts car, 1983 300D sedan
In Henderson, NC. Won't pass inspection and will take quite a few dollars to fix. I hate to get rid of it; I'd like to fix it up later. But it does need a lot of fixing.
Needs brakes, including master cylinder. Needs exhaust. Heater blower generally works, but blows fuses quickly, so something's wrong with it that needs replaced. About 245K on chassis, about 180K on 1985 engine, which runs pretty well but needs glow plugs. Needs new fuel return lines, a simple thing. Slight crack in coolant reservoir, near top, so it doesn't leak there unless the level gets very high (but the tank isn't useful for a swap). Vacuum leak keeps her from shutting off. ... Transmission so far continues to shift well. Some rust, but not a whole lot for being originally a northern car (Woodstock, N.Y., of all places). Essentially no body damage, though the hood is a little rippled. (I think some neighborhood kid sat on it while I had it parked for a week while on vacation.) Original thistle green metallic clearcoat with fair dark green MB-Tex. What's a parts car like that worth? Probably not much. The more I typed, the worse she sounds. ... Too bad; I love her so ...
