Frt cast iron calipers off my 500. Installed the late SL setup and these need to go. Make me a reasonable offer. Shipping from Seattle.
Thanks, Steve

Are you sure this is the case? I have heard they fit on several chassis including 190's if the wheels are 16".

There are a lot of conflicting views on this, but I have put 500E brakes on two different w124.133 cars and a couple 16vs without changing the hubs. Zeitgiest had trouble with his w124 wagon though.

I had problems mounting 500E brakes onto my wagon, the disc wouldnt clear one of the joints.

Dave M knows what works and what wouldnt work...

maybe it is a wagon issue.

BTW, gsxr (Dave M) and I have gone back and forth on what fits, but I showed him pictures every time. He was suprised, but anyway.

I'd be interested in putting them on my CE, but I'd want to be sure they fit before shelling out. Did you get them on a 124 CE by any chance?

It's pretty simple, really. There are two different size brakes used on the 500E (124.036). One fits without mods, the other does not:
(1) The early brake calipers can be aluminum Brembo or iron Ate, and use a 300 x 28mm rotor.
(2) The late brakes are iron Ate calipers, with a 320 x 30mm rotor.

The early 500E front brakes (both Brembo and Ate) fit absolutely all 124's, no need to change anything except the wheels (need 16" to clear). I have a set of the iron Ates on my 1987 300D. Side note... the early Brembos will have clearance problems with some wheels.

The late 500E brakes will only bolt up to 124's that came from the factory with M104 or M119 engines. Those models have different lower control arms with modifications in the ball joint area for extra clearance. To make the late 500E brakes fit on 124's with M103 or diesel engines, you need to either swap the LCA to the late style, OR swap on the R129 knuckle/hub (or both, if you want). If you swap LCA's, get OE or OEM parts... Zeitgeist had problems because he used cheap eBay LCA's from Taiwan that didn't work right.
