Please note changes to above listing....now offering the car in two versions...either stock form or with all the enhancements. including the exceedingly rare Carlsson RS body kit!
Option one includes the stock wheels with the Pirelli P7000 tires, all weather floor mats and trunk liner! This is a rare opportunity to own a truely unique automobile with spectacular performance! |

I do not mean to be disrespectful, but why would anyone pay $70K for a used CLK55, which BTW was raced, and if fitted back with the OEM bodyparts would be "****ed" with twice, when one can order/buy one NEW for the same price? As you know CLK55 is NOT in demand as it was a year ago and can be bought (or ordered with a short wait) at MSRP or even slightly below at any NYC area MB dealer.
$15K extra for Carsson kit and HRE wheels is too expensive too, as one can not expect to get for a custom job what they paid for it in the first place, unless someone really whants it and IMO HRE, while excellent quality wheels, do not look "right" on CLK in 18". |

What's worse is that the new C32 AMG's at 349HP @ 55K MSRP will drive all these E,S,ML55 AMG's down in price, as well as our struggling economy.
Having an economical (relative) supercharged V6 vs. a thirsty normally aspirated V8 hurts again. Best of luck, :-) neil |

You are both entitled to your opinion but then again it's not your car!
And by the way the car has NOT been raced. This is a suberb automobile in perfect condition with over $90,000.00 invested. |

JCO.
I was under impression that you took your car to the track, I apologise if I am wrong. Also, I am not bashing the car - after all I am a CLK430 owner myself (its my second 430) and love it very much. All I said was that it will be very difficult to get back what you paid for a CLK55, I am not even mentioning other CLKs, at this time and especially in NYC. Best of luck. |

I had hoped to put it on track and was preparing to do so but then changed my mind...decided to keep my track activities to fully prepared race cars.
You may be right on price but I hope you are wrong....the reason I am so bullish on this car is that the motor was meticulously broken in resulting in a very quiet, very smooth and very powerful 55 motor...(which is not always the case) the body work was done extremely professional and if we change it back, I would challange anyone to find any evidence of the change (swapping bumpers is really quite simple) The Carlsson body work speaks for itself, only 12 sets were made only three made it to the US that I know of and one of those was wrecked...I truely believe it will be a collector car in the future....and had planned on keeping the car indefinitly....but life has thrown some curves lately and I cannot be so frivolous! Whoever buys this car will have something special... |

jco- really nice looking clk55, I saw a pic of your car posted some time ago too.
it appears to be wise to offer the car for sale in its own era we've observed e-bay'd true mega buck Miami Vice AMG 80's MBs (AMG prep'd) and also what appeared to be true Hammer cars come up for sale- - - outside their era- - - and they unfortunately appeared to draw scant secondary market purchase interest really unfortunate that this scenario appears to be status quo for mod'd/ exotic vehicles over time (included to a degree are the stock factory MB hot rods and even non-classic Italian super cars) so us owners must really love our cars for exactly what they represent (to us)....and likely acknowledge/ not necessarily expect to many others too share this value good luck selling the clk -fad |

Ouch....I do wish you well, but..
I'm afraid you're may have to adjust your thinking here. The CLK55's are dead in the water as far as re-sale; I'm in the business and in the last thirty days have turned down two cars under $60k. (as a matter of fact, one had 18" Brabus wheels, nice intake, etc.). There is just extremely soft demand for these cars at prices in the 60's and 70's. The market seems to have decided that E and CLK 55's are more desirable--and sell-able--in the high 50's low 60's depending on year/color options. I can sympathize--Ive owned numerous modified cars in the past and taken my share of lumps. But given the knock you're looking at, you may just want to drive this great car. good luck..allen
