SOMEONE Sell me a Transmission! - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

for a 1978 450 SEL, with 4.5L Engine. The transmission that I had on order from a salvage yard in Calgary, was damaged during removal.

HE's sending me photos to see how bad the damage really is, if it's not too bad I can repair it, if not, I'm going to have to look to the US for one, as this was the last transmission in Canada

Hoping for something with <150K, in the $400-$600 range.

I put in your info and there were plenty of transmissions available. Look for the '*' at the page numbers at the bottom of the page. That is the lowest price page.

I have one from a 73 450SE and one from a 80 450 SEL.

I am in Wisconsin, the price would be right, but i have no idea how to get it to you.

I have been shipping getrag 265's in a 2x4 construction crate wrapped in cardboard and banded for about $90 UPS. auto would be a little more due to size but even the box places dont look twice at the size or weight. Ive had no issue shipping 5 so far

I tried the canadian search first, and the one and only transmission that is listed, IS the one that I was getting and is now damaged

I found a couple locally (dunno why I didn't ask around here first.)

I did come across an 82 300TD for $300

i have one from an 83 380 and a 74 280 ( i think) will they help?

Amazing. And UPS wanted how much for your box? Must be because it was over 60 inches long.

I'm sure I could find a few transmissions for you to pick from; however shipping to Canada does offer new restrictions. USPS works pretty good to Canada, but a transmission would be over their weight limits.

I THINK that UPS and FedEx will have surcharges for export\import tariffs --- DO NOT Quote me on this.

Sorry, I think those transmissions are of the 4 speed variety

I need 3speed from behind a 4.5l engine only.

Yeah, after seeing the photos of the damage, I couldn't possibly take this transmission, even for a heavily discounted price.

I saw these and was floored! How can anyone inflict this kind of damage! especially that torque converter!!!!!

the broken bell housing, I can deal with, but I'm sure that shaft has been twisted beyond it's normal range of motion. it's f****ed...was removed by an amateur obviously....pisses me off, it had 88,000KM on it. Oh well, at least I don't have to shell out $700 bucks for a used transmission when I can get one locally now for possibly MUCH cheaper..
