Zebrano wood panel for W123 gauges

1 Attachment(s)
EDIT -- One sold, one still available.
==========================
The '86-'90 190E/190D center console has a blank zebrano wood panel that's perfect for mounting up to three gauges in place of the ash tray in a W123. I have two for sale -- $20 each including free shipping in the USA.

Since these are genuine Mercedes parts, they are a perfect match for your existing W123 zebrano and just need to be cut down to size and drilled for the gauges. The black plastic pieces in the picture are stapled on and can easily be removed.

These are used panels and have some light scratches but no serious damage. The strange pattern in the picture is a reflection of me taking the picture, it's not in the wood.

PM if interested.

The W201 filler piece is the same height as the W123 ashtray but a little longer so you will have to cut it a bit shorter. I'll post another picture later today. The panel and gauges are held in the ashtray spot by friction; there is little room for fasteners and I didn't want to mar the panel with screwheads. I also used a bit of velcro on the sides. Worked well for 2 years in my '85 300D.

IIRC this panel is also adequately sized for replacement of the 124 ashtray with a gauge panel.

Wouldn't that also work for those with a newer 190 that wanted to dump the cassette holder?

Yes. On the newer 190s the casette holders come out, the radio moves down one spot, and the zebrano piece fits above the radio (same center console but things are moved around). Done that.

It would work but you'd have to make some kind of filler because the W124 ashtray is taller than the W123 ashtray. The W201 filler panel is 3 inches tall while the ashtray is about 3-1/4 inches or maybe a bit more. But it could be made to work and would be a lot less effort (as I am learning) than building a panel from scratch.

Good idea.

I was wondering today what to replace that hole the day I toss out that cassette holder off my W201.
