WTB: 300SD transmission 722.303 I really need one!

I am in need of a 722.303 transmission in good shape, preferably with lower miles (under 175k preferred). My 282k 300SD has just recently begun a downward spiral and is losing reverse and doing weird things.

I'll pay $$ for a good trans. Shipping zip code would be 49508.

Let me know via PM, thanks.

I think one of my parts cars is a 300SD. As I recall, it has about 165K miles on it.

Any idea on the condition of the transmission? I may be interested.....as long as it is not a 1985.

Can't use it, I want one with the electronic speedo on it already for a 300SD....don't want to deal with swapping the tail piece. The trans R&R is going to be enough work as it is.

Did you sign up for this forum just to offer the trans? I see you have 1 post...

As it stands I haven't gotten much of a response for any low mile units (under 175k).....so I am more and more leaning to just having mine rebuilt locally.....I can have it done by a pro for between 900 and 1200, with an unlimited miles 1 year warranty.....and I know I'd have a perfect trans....rather than messing around with used ones....

Anyone out there with an exceptional used 300SD trans? If nothing real great comes along, I'm going with a rebuild.....

Rebuild yourself? The gears and bearings are likely fine, front pump also, so you're looking at pistons clutches and bands plus a re-seal. Start with one of the SD trannies at LKQ.

I've never done anything of the sort before.....

This is my daily driver....so I'd rather not leave it in a state of disrepair while I learn trans rebuilding....

Have you ever rebuilt one of these? I think the shop is my best bet here...trying to do it myself would very likely end in disaster....or would take months....

I haven't, sorry.

I plan to do one soon, but it will be my spare just to freshen it.

I might try and sloooowly disassemble and rebuild mine in my spare time.....it'd help if there was a book or documentation out there outlining the process. Is there any such thing available?

For now I just want to get it back on the road reliably. Even though it still drives ok forwards and does *move* backwards.....it does weird stuff (randomly disengaging, missing a gear then going back in...etc....) and I don't want to be stranded....I'd rather just do a swap with a good used one and take my time with rebuilding the dying one.

No need, I already have a replacement in my possession now. Brought it home from Chicago yesterday. Thanks though.
