Blank as in black, is a bad display. Blank as in lt gray, no power.

Easy to change, pull out cluster, two phillips screws on the back of the temp-display, and one 5pin connector.

A temp display can be blank because it's gone bad or because it doesn't have power. The temp display is on fuse 6, make absolutely sure it's OK. Don't replace the display until you're sure the existing one should be working. If you're sure yours is bad, send me a PM and I'll reply with my PayPal ID.

Display failures usually have the LCD turning part or all black -- it is very obvious. It is also possible (but less likely) that the display could also have some kind of failure in which the LCD panel is OK but no longer gets any information from the rest of the electronics.

Finally, if the temperature sensor in the front bumper fails, the display will still read but it will be stuck at the maximum or minimum temperature. The fact that your display glows simply means that the backlight, which has its own power wire, has not burned out.

If the fuse is OK (don't just look at it -- remove it, clean the ends, check for hairline fractures, etc.) then you should remove the instrument cluster and unplug the 5-pin cable from the temp display. Pin 5 is the power lead and should have +12 Volts on it in "Run or Start." If power is there, the display should work.

Yes, one has been shipped off to a happy customer, one is promised to Shaun McCarren and I am awaiting his check, and the third is still available.

What would cause the reading to be inaccurate. I changed my alternator and serpentine belt 3 days ago I just happen to notice that the reading is way way off. Which fuse is it?

Way way off? Does it read the same temperature (open circuit) all of the time? -40 or something like that?
