w123 hood emblem question
 

i heard someone say on one of the emblem threads that they were in search for a w123 original hood emblem.......

so not to ask a dumb question but how is the original different than say a replacement?? :rolleyes:

That was probably me, I would like to get one as a spare. They no longer make the original stars, but were superseded by the w201/w124/w126 ones.

The difference is basically in the height of the stalk and the width of the base. Original stars had a base diameter similar to the diameter of the wreath emblem in front and on top of the grille (blue/white). Replacement stars had a narrower diameter base. So they look "tall and narrow" compared to the original "fat and low"

can you help me with a emblem install. i dont see how this star will lock into this housing.
