I'm in need of a replacement 80 amp alternator for my euro 85' 500SE... My sister tried moving my 500 and it (the alternator) crapped out on her and for the life of me (and her) cannot source one locally or in the parts stores.... Help.. I'm still on vacation but need one ASAP!!

dam... that sucks
good morning,
i believe that when the majority of the times that an alternator goes out it means the brushes are worn. with most this vintage alternators they put the brushes connected onto a small piece that gets screwed into the the alternator itself. i cant think of the name of the part butit also acts as a voltage regulator. i have a few extras laying around its fairly simple, probably easier then removal/install of the alternator its self. if you cant find anyone or anywhere closer to get it from. let me know. it would still take a few days to get there though.
