84 SD and 84 300D PNP low mile engines

I was at the Pick N Pull in Newark, Ca. on mowery Ave off I-880.

there is a 84 300D 147,413 miles, blue interior. Hit on the R/F corner.
color is a blue/silver.
VIN # WDBAB33A6EA172876

also a 84 300SD 172,663 miles. new starter, air filter mount, alternator and new belts, (Continental).
side swiped on the right side, damaging both doors. has black interior, and is
dark grey.
VIN # WDBCB20A7EA034917

both of these were drivers at the time of impact. so the engines should be good. both cars looked to have been taken care of.

Charlie's good guy.

But I'm sure he's salivating over these prime motors. Only he needs a warehouse to house them all for a rainy day.

engine with all accessories, flywheel forward $179.99 plus $49.99 core, $5.49 enviro fee, tax $21.96.

So out the door $257.43.

Newark in is the SF bay area. just north of San Jose 20 miles or so on I-880
like you are going towards Oakland.

this afternoon I hooked a spedo cable to the cluster out of the 84 300D.
well the speedometer tell me how fast Iam going, but does not record the milage, odometer or trip. looks like the brass gear might be slipping.
Soooo, the 147,000 miles might be??????
a compression test would tell the health of that engine.

the 300SD might be the better choice.

John, glad that steering box is working good for you.

Thumbs up THANK YOU !

Charlie ;

I appreciate that , now I know roughly where you're at . there's another P-A-P East of you , right off the 99 freeway , I've found good stuff in there when driving up to Freemont to visit a freind .

IIRC there's one in San Jose ? just South of Freemont a few exits .

I found a silver Euro Coupe in there a couple years ago .

A bit of a drive just for an engine but I really need one and would like it to be an 1984 takeout if possible .

when you go into www.picknpull.com they have some new info on their site.

you can do a search for say 300D, then check how many miles from your location for available cars. doesn`t tell color, type transmission etc...

They now have a price list of all parts. that is a big help. click on store locator, then the yard you want. at the bottom is a link for price, and also new is the yard lay out where everything is.

they have their weekly specials also.

I usually hit the Moss Landing, Newark, San Jose North and San Jose South yards. Newark is like 50 miles from here. ML is 23 and SJ in between.

When you go in and pay your $2 fee, the guy can give you a print out of all mercedes, row it`s in and the color. and maybe how far in the row it is in.

these inhancements to their site is probably why we now have pay to go into each yard, and not the hand stamp that gives free entry to the next yard.

Post Interesting

I was in a local P-A-P to-day and asked the guy 'how much for a front fender ?' he said "what kinda car ?"

' an old Mercedes ' .

" Oh , a Mercedes ! that'll be $65.00 " .

Whatta load of crap ~ they only pay $150.00 per car no matter what so having varying prices is BULL**** of the first order

Screw him ~ I'll go to Sun Valley P-A-P and score a cherry one for $29.95 , the regular price .

Nate, I notice this happening more and more lately. I try to just skirt the car type if at all possible. Tell em its a car, not a pu/van. A car's a car right. That BS chaps my @$$ too.
