Parting out Euro 500SEL

Car has some pretty unique features as it's a 4 wheel SLS car. It also has the pump up style lumbar support for the seats that I have not seen in the past. It does not have Tri-Y headers (seems to be a common question) and has the early US headlights on it.

The front Euro bumper is pretty beaten up but the back on is in good shape.

I'm only interested in the drive train for my 500SEC and the shocks and height control valves for my 6.9.

If anyone needs parts, EMAIL me through forum (do not PM) as i'll be on my cellphone during the day and can receive Emails but will be able to browse the forum. If you need to discuss a part, then leave a number and i'll be happy to call.

I need to be aggressive in parting this car as I need to reclaim the space so get your orders in quickly on whatever you need.

I've also recently parted a Euro 500SEC and have the rear bumper (front is US), trunk lid, doors, glass and a 2.47 LSD Diff that are already off the car.

Last time I saw one was in the yards sadly, lots of extra piping and such... I think they have FIVE accumulators total! I think the oil tank was much larger too, it was up beside the ABS box. Car also had a different rear suspension unlike normal 126s. 'Anti Squat' or something of that nature it is called.

Anyway, there was a dash knob beside headlight switch you can pull in/out, that I assume, allows you to raise/lower the car to an extent. Plus you get normal load leveling for rear?

Most of the high end BMWs of the day also had rear SLS, like my 745i turbo cars. Apparently it was to help keep the car flat at high road speeds instead of squatting (stability). M5s of the vintage had it, my 750iL does, etc. 500E too.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it. They somehow managed to block the lines going to the rear system so that it pressurizes the fronts only. One you started the car, it would rise quickly and rise high! I did not drive it much, just in and out of the shop and around the block. The air cells were shot also so it was high and bouncy.

It must have been a common conversion in Oklahoma because I found another one for sale a week later with exactly the same conversion.

I would have restored this car but it got clobbered in the front at one point in it's life and the repair was suspect. You could see a giant stitch weld on one of the inner fenders that wasn't ground down.
