I'm posting here for lack of a better forum. Two weeks ago my wife was in an accident with a Durango that only slowed for a stop sign.
Anyway... I only had liability coverage and the other guy's insurance company is giving me 80% of the book value (they claim my wife was 20% responsible) and totalling the car. They're telling me I have to keep the car and they will deduct the salvage value from the amount they will give me. I have neither the time nor the space to repair it, so I'm either going to sell it or donate it.
The damage is to the left, front corner (fender, hood, grill, headlight assmbly,) and the radiator. All the damage was above the bumper. I haven't opened the hood, but radiator fluid was leaking after the accident. The car ran fine before, but won't start since the accident. I don't know if it's due to some fuel cut-off switch or something.
Any offers?... or anyone looking for parts before I call some charity to come and tow it? I'm keeping it a friend's lot and don't want to bother him much longer. I'm located in the Queens section of NYC.
