1984 300SD Complete Parts Car - $350 - Central PA

Had this posted in the Cars section but I guess parts is more appropriate.

1984 300SD 334k miles. Located in Central PA, zip 17042. Anthracite with Parchment leather interior, has GenII W126 rims.

I have clear title in my name. ONLY $350!!!. I NEED THE ROOM, PLEASE COME AND GET IT!

Bought this car as part of a lot of parts... owner did not want to split everything up (all I wanted was a cylinder head!). Took a bunch of pictures which I will link below, but here is what I know about the car. Was the previous owners daily driver until the timing chain went. Everything worked when it was taken off the road (although it looks like he took out the blower motor and antenna to use in his other car). He had some suspension work done prior to this as well, but he could not remember the details. It has been sitting for a couple of years now; I gave the car a quick rinse and vacuum just to get the dirt and cobwebs off but did not bother with a wax and detail .

The paint is actually very nice and shines, clear coat is not faded! With wax it would look great. The body on the car is solid. It spent sometime in the PNW and was a Texas car until just a few years ago so that is probably why it has survived pretty well. I tried taking pics of whatever I saw and of the underside of the car as well. Could not put the car up on stands so I did the best I could but at least you can get a good idea that there is nothing going on under there. Any rust I did find I left untouched so you can see what it is. What I have found is everything is solid except the rear driver's side door.

Oddly, all the other doors have no rust at all or just a couple of small surface spots. Don't know what that one rusted the way it did! Maybe had clogged drain holes. The rear trunk lid is alloy and has the bubble under the paint thing going on. Sad since if it wasn't for that, the car wouldn't need any paint work! Luckily it is confined to just that area so it could be fixed and resprayed easily. The rockers and jack holes are solid. The undercoat is peeling around the jack holes with some surface rust, but it is not rot, they are solid. Look at the pics below for more details.

The leather is in nice shape and not all cracked and torn up. The PO used Leatherique and that is what probably saved it from really drying out and cracking the last couple of years. It could use another treatment soon.

Unfortunately the stiching on top of the back seat is ripping. The leather is fine, so either you or an upholstery shop could restich and it would be fine. The armrest leather needs to be replaced or fixed as well. Other than that the seats are good. We have gotten some rain recently but the car felt dry inside, so I don't think it has any leaks in there. The carpets need to be cleaned and/or redyed but they are not worn out or ripped. Some of the wood will need to be reglued or replaced. The heat/cold from just sitting really did a number on that!

The owner prior to the last spent over $4,000 in the 90's putting in remote door locks, alarm and stereo. It is a CodeAlarm system. The radio is a Pioneer Premier with a cassette, with a CD changer in the trunk. It also has a matching DSP/equalizer mounted under the glovebox. The speakers are MB Quart. There is a subwoofer integrated with the rear deck (tastefully done). I have all the manuals and remotes for the radio and alarm, including the wiring plan. The car also has a tow hitch that was professionally/properly installed.

So, I guess the car could be used as parts but I think that would be a shame. I'd say better to fix the engine or drop another one in there. With some cleaning up this could be a beautiful car; I love the color combo. If I had the room and time, I'd save it and drive it! Ok, on to the pictures!!

Shallow dent on the front driver's fender. Should be easily popped out by yourself or a PDR shop. The ugly chrome

thing on the wheel lips should come off anyway

Small passenger front fender ding, again an easy thing for a PDR shop.

The car has alloy hood and trunk. There is a little bubbling here on the hood. Luckily the bubbling on the trunk is

confined to the pictured area which could be resprayed easily rather than the whole trunk.

A small dent under the taillight.

Rust under the headlamp unit. It can be cleaned/repainted or I also have a new OEM piece that can be used instead

(included with the car). This piece bolts in.

Driver's door, no rust! The others are fine too except for the driver's side rear passenger door.

EEK! This is the driver's side rear passenger door.

Front passenger door. Just some surface bubbles under it. There is duct tape on there that I suspect is a previous

owner's way of putting the watershield back in.

Rear passenger door. Again it is solid, just a couple of small surface spots.

In front of both rear wheels there is some rust where the undercoating is flaked off.

A series of jack hole pics. There are solid, just surface rust where the undercoat peeled away.

Some underbody shots.

Interior pics. It wouldn't take much to make it look really nice in here:

Underhood, etc
