I know it's a long shot
But does anyone in the N. Virginia/DC metro area have a transmission front pump seal for a 1984 300D?
I'll be going to the dealer tomorrow to order it, but my car is filling up someone else's garage right now. |

Because it takes just as long as ordering from the dealer. The point of this thread was trying to get it quicker than that.

Since you're new, I'll give some unsolicited info that isn't discussed much. The people that run the forum are knowledgeable and very helpful. Prices are also less than the dealer. (Not that price matters - I'm cheap but always go for quality over price when cheap won't get quality.) FWIW, many on the forum give the people that run the forum last bid. They also win all ties when I'm buying. They can also over nite many items if you'll pay the freight. Calling them may prove advantageous.

I do not know what type of seal you need but if it a normal lip typ seal and you can read the number on the seal there are industrial bearing and seal places that can cross referance the number.
Save a trip and call by Phone first. They also sell O-rings; but you would need to bring that in to show them.

I am a purist, so aftermarket is only if I can't afford OEM. Plus the seal is in my transmission, which I don't plan on dropping again anytime in the near future. Mercedes engineered it, and if I'm right it assuming the one I'm taking out is original then I'm going with the tried and true. TnBob Like I said, I'll keep it in mind. But for transmission seals I'll go to the dealer, plus the part price includes next day or two day arrival. |
