1978 240D Parts Car
My husband's 1978 240D had a nasty run-in with a pothole and isn't road-worthy anymore. The body of the car has some serious rust damage, but the glass is intact, the engine runs well, the manual transmission is fine (the clutch mechanism is only a few years old), and I'm sure there are other bits and pieces off this car that would be fine for use in another vehicle. The car is not drivable, as it does not have head-lights or tail-lights. It has no grill, it has no front bumper, and no starter. The car was last driven fall of '09, but the engine started fine about a month ago.
We would prefer to sell this car as-is instead of trying to part it out, since we need to get rid of it quickly to facilitate a move and to keep the city happy. It is in a location that makes it easy to trailer. We will consider any offers that come our way. We would like to get $150 for it, as that is what the scrap guys have offered for it, but it breaks our hearts to scrap a car that has done us so well over the years and has a solid engine and transmission. PM me if you have questions. I will try to post a few pictures in the next day or so. We are in Albion, MI. |
$150 is a very fair price for what is left there.

Photos and updates
Here are the images of the car. Please note that the lights, grill assembly (including hood ornament), and hitch will NOT be sold with the car.

On a side note, if you want the building behind it, that's for sale, too. |

daw_two:
Our location is Albion, MI. The lot the car is on is directly adjacent to our home. Aquaticedge: The building was an elementary school, originally constructed in 1918 and added onto in the 50s. It was closed in the early 80s, was used as district storage and ill-kept for a decade before they sold it off for a dollar. It sat, was foreclosed on for nonpayment of taxes, was sold to someone who gutted it for scrap, foreclosed on for nonpayment of taxes again, and then we purchased it. It was quite beautiful back when it was still intact. |
This car is still available and our moving date is starting to draw nearer.
